As part of the first cultural and media convoy, the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, Dibba Al-Fujairah Branch, organized this morning, Thursday, July 21, a dialogue session on the “Drour Account,” during which His Excellency Nasser Al Yamahi, Member of the Federal National Council, spoke, moderated by Dr. Faisal Saeed Al Hefeiti, Member of the Fujairah Youth Council, and in the presence of a number From officials in government departments, interested parties, and the people of Dibba Al Fujairah.
The session discussed the importance of pearls in the daily lives of fathers and grandfathers, the region in which they appeared, the difference in calculations of pearls between pearls of land and sea, the synchronization of calculations with traditional heritage and poetic verses, how to calculate pearls and when they have importance, whether in the case of weather, agriculture, or the sea, and the importance of pearls. The fathers and grandfathers passed on the Dror accounts, and they continue to be used on a daily basis in agriculture and the sea.
Regarding the initiatives that have been implemented to facilitate the inheritance of the Durr accounts to current generations, Al-Yamahi stated that an agenda was previously created for the Durr accounts and linked to the Gregorian months, in addition to launching an application that includes detailed information about each Durr, with the aim of preserving them.
The audience praised what was discussed in the dialogue session, due to its interest in consolidating this heritage that was adopted by the fathers in the past, pointing out that it can be taught in the educational curricula so that it is easy to preserve and pass down from generation to generation.
